The Katsina State Government has allocated N3.33 billion for the Graduate Entrepreneurship Programme to equip young graduates with relevant skills, mentorship and startup support to enable them establish sustainable ventures.
The government also reaffirmed its commitment to economic empowerment and job creation with substantial allocations captured in the proposed N857 billion 2026 budget.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Malik Anas, disclosed this during a press briefing in Katsina, where he outlined the economic focus of the fiscal framework.
He said the administration of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has earmarked N10 billion for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to expand access to finance, stimulate local production and strengthen small-scale businesses across the state.
According to him, N3.33 billion has also been allocated for the Graduate Entrepreneurship Programme to equip young graduates with relevant skills, mentorship and startup support to enable them establish sustainable ventures.
The Commissioner further stated that N10 billion is provided for the Social Investment Programme to support vulnerable households, while N7.68 billion is set aside for palliatives to cushion the impact of prevailing economic challenges on citizens.
Alhaji Anas explained that the economic provisions of the 2026 budget align with Governor Radda’s “Building Your Future” agenda, which identifies economic empowerment and job creation as central pillars of the administration’s development strategy.
He expressed optimism that effective implementation of the programmes would strengthen local economies, enhance financial inclusion and improve the standard of living of the people of Katsina State.
