Katsina Local Government Area has secured World Bank supported development interventions through a strategic collaboration with the Katsina State Development Management Board (KTDMB) under the SOLID Project framework successfully.
The development was described by the Council as a “significant milestone” in its efforts to translate global development opportunities into practical benefits for residents. The intervention followed deliberate institutional engagement led by the Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government Council, Hon. Isah Miqdad, who prioritised partnerships that support community development.
According to information from the Council, the collaboration positions Katsina Local Government to benefit from infrastructure and environmental interventions. These include roads rehabilitation, transport improvement, drainage and flood control, solid waste management, water supply, climate resilience initiatives, public spaces, street lighting, markets, and community facilities.
The intervention areas were said to be “tailored to address pressing community needs” while strengthening urban and social resilience within the local government area. Officials noted that the projects are expected to improve daily living conditions and enhance access to essential services.
In line with implementation requirements, Katsina Local Government engaged with KTDMB in a structured planning meeting to guide the development and harmonisation of work plans in accordance with World Bank standards. The engagement provided technical direction on data compilation and needs-based project formulation, ensuring readiness for effective and accountable execution.
The Council noted that the role of Hon. Miqdad has been central to the achievement, with his administration focusing on institutional coordination, evidence-based planning, and alignment of local priorities with international best practices. His leadership, the Council said, has ensured readiness to “attract and manage strategic global partnerships” that deliver value.
The development is viewed as a critical step in the Council’s agenda to improve infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and foster sustainable growth across Katsina Local Government Area.
