Katsina State is preparing to launch the Green Parent Initiative, a new programme aimed at making households central to environmental responsibility. According to the Katsina State Climate Change Secretariat, the initiative is designed to empower parents to become active partners in building a cleaner, safer, and greener state.
The Secretariat stated that “this initiative recognizes the powerful role households play in shaping environmental habits, nurturing climate smart children, and driving sustainable community practices from the ground up.”
The organisation expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D, saying his commitment to climate resilience has created space for innovation and grassroots action. It also acknowledged the role of the Special Adviser on Climate Change, Prof. Mohammed Al’Amin, and the Senior Special Assistant, Hon. Suleiman S Ribadu, for “championing this people centered approach to climate responsibility.”
The official launch will take place soon and is expected to mark a new chapter in Katsina’s climate journey. The Secretariat highlighted that this phase will be one “where households become hubs of sustainability, where parents lead by example, where children grow with greener values, and where the entire state thrives because every family plays its part.” It added that Katsina is ready and communities are ready, promising more updates soon.
