Katsina Unveils ₦4.4m Ingawa Fellowship Forum Scholarship Scheme

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has unveiled the Ingawa Fellowship Forum Scholarship Scheme, describing the initiative as a timely and commendable intervention that aligns with his administration’s focus on inclusive, accessible, and quality education. The scheme, which targets university students, provides almost ₦4.4 million in scholarship support to deserving undergraduates across Ingawa Local Government Area.

Speaking at the official flag-off during his statewide engagement in Ingawa, Governor Radda encouraged beneficiaries to remain disciplined, committed to their studies, and focused on achieving academic excellence. He noted that the future of Katsina State rests on educated, empowered, and morally upright youth. He reemphasized that education remains a key pillar of his development agenda, promising continued support for programmes that expand access to learning and motivate youth advancement.

“This scholarship is not just financial support; it is a call to responsibility. I urge all beneficiaries to remain focused, committed, and determined to excel. Our administration will continue to prioritize education and ensure that no willing student is left behind,” Governor Radda said.

During the ceremony, the Governor was decorated with the “Champion of Academic Excellence” award in recognition of his commitment to education reforms, youth empowerment initiatives, and policies that broaden learning opportunities across the state.

Founder of the Ingawa Fellowship Forum, Engr. Mustapha Samaila Ingawa, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his presence and consistent backing for projects that improve educational access. He disclosed details of the scholarship while addressing the audience.

According to him, “This year, we have 204 beneficiaries drawn from the 11 wards of Ingawa Local Government Area. The scholarship is strictly for our undergraduate students. Two hundred (200) of them will receive ₦20,000 each, while four exceptional first-class potentials will receive ₦100,000 each. Our aim is to support academic excellence and encourage dedication among our youth.” He added that the Forum intends to expand the scheme and nurture young leaders who will contribute meaningfully to Katsina State.

As part of his engagements in Ingawa, Governor Radda commissioned a new ₦30 million X-ray machine at the Ingawa General Hospital. The equipment was purchased by the local government to improve healthcare delivery and strengthen service access for residents.

Later, the Governor visited the District Head of Ingawa, Alhaji Tukur Suleiman Dambo II. The traditional ruler thanked him for numerous projects, appointments, and agricultural support extended to the community. He also commended local political leaders for backing the Governor’s development vision.

Governor Radda expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the vital role traditional rulers play in governance. He reflected on his time as a former Local Government Chairman, stating it influenced his decision to grant full LG autonomy. He observed that insecurity in the area has reduced by Allah’s will and encouraged continuous Qur’anic recitation every Friday. He further assured residents that the Ingawa road projects would soon be completed and opened.

The Governor also held an interactive session with stakeholders, reviewed ongoing projects, and encouraged continued support for government programmes to sustain progress.

Those present at the event included Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Chief of Staff, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Principal Private Secretary, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; Senator representing Daura Zone, Sen. Sani Zango Daura; and Member representing Kankia, Ingawa, and Kusada Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kusada. Others in attendance were APC State Chairman, Sani JB Daura; Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa; Member representing Mashi and Dutsi Federal Constituency, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri; members of the Katsina State Executive Council, and other senior government officials.
