The Kwara State Government has commenced the Project 774 Digital Capacity Training in Offa Local Government Area, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots technological development and administrative efficiency.
The flag-off ceremony, which held at the ICT section of the Offa Local Government Council Secretariat, underscores the state government’s commitment to equipping public servants with relevant digital skills required in the modern era.
Speaking at the event, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Innovation, Kayode Ishola, urged participants to take full advantage of the training, stressing the importance of digital knowledge in today’s world.
“I task you to be passionate about this training and leverage it to the advantage of Offa,” he said. “In this 21st century, digital proficiency is the key that attracts global opportunities to our community.”
He added that the selected personnel would serve as drivers of digital transformation at the grassroots level, describing them as frontliners who would champion technological growth across local communities.
Ishola also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his continued investment in digital initiatives, noting that the administration’s commitment has significantly improved governance and service delivery through technology.
He further praised the leadership of Offa Local Government for providing a conducive learning environment and conveyed the governor’s goodwill to the people of the area.
According to him, the initiative is designed to create a sustainable knowledge system where trained personnel will, in turn, mentor others within their communities.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Sulaiman Olatunji Laaro, appreciated the state government for what he described as visionary leadership and strategic investment in human capital development.
“We appreciate His Excellency for these provisions and his exemplary leadership traits,” he said.
Laaro pledged the council’s full support for the programme, noting that the initiative would improve service delivery and positively impact residents at the grassroots.
“The direct impact of this initiative will uplift lives and enhance administrative efficiency across the local government,” he added.
He urged participants to remain committed to the training modules, describing the programme as a rare opportunity to gain valuable digital skills.
The chairman also thanked the governor for prioritising grassroots development through sustained investment in digital infrastructure.
The training has since commenced, with participants undergoing intensive sessions aimed at boosting digital competence and positioning Kwara as a hub for inclusive technological advancement.
