The Kwara State University (KWASU) has graduated twenty women from the Ilorin Women Development Centre after completing intensive training in modern tailoring skills and cap-making. The graduation ceremony, held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Centre in Akerebiata, Gambari, Ilorin, marked the completion of the 4th cohort of the empowerment programme.

During the event, the Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, congratulated the graduands and urged them to be worthy representatives of the University and their communities. He advised them to make judicious use of the tools provided to them for self-reliance and economic growth. “You are expected to be good ambassadors of the University and your communities by making proper use of the empowerment items given to you,” he said. He also added that the University would monitor the usage and impact of the tools while offering continuous mentorship.

The Acting Chairman of the Committee on Women Development and Entrepreneurship, Professor Mubaraq Sanni, commended the Vice-Chancellor and management for their support. He explained that the initiative, which began in Ilorin, now has centres in Osi, Ilesha-Baruba, and Malete, focusing on fashion design and entrepreneurship development.
