In a notice released by the Lagos State Scholarship Board, the verification exercise is scheduled to hold in phases across the five administrative divisions of the state.

According to the schedule, candidates from Badagry, Ikorodu and Epe divisions are expected to undergo screening between April 13 and April 17, 2026. Applicants from Lagos and Ikeja divisions will have their verification from April 20 to April 24, 2026.

The exercise is part of the screening process aimed at confirming the indigene status of applicants before final consideration for awards under the 2025/2026 scholarship and bursary programme.

Officials noted that the verification is mandatory and requires candidates to physically present themselves with relevant documents to support their claims of origin.

The state government said the move is intended to ensure that only genuine indigenes of Lagos State benefit from its educational support initiatives, while also promoting transparency and fairness in the selection process.

Although full details regarding venues and specific requirements are yet to be disclosed, applicants have been advised to stay updated through official communication channels of the scholarship board.

The Lagos State Scholarship Board is responsible for administering scholarships and bursaries to qualified students of Lagos origin in tertiary institutions across Nigeria and beyond.

Further announcements are expected in the coming days to guide candidates on documentation and attendance procedures for the verification exercise.
