The Lagos State Government has approved the sum of ₦108,150,000.00 as housing loans for 247 public servants across the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). The approval was given at the third quarter meeting of the Local Government Staff Housing Loans Board, which was held recently at the Training School, First Secretariat, G.R.A., Ikeja. The meeting was presided over by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Local Government Establishments and Training, Mrs Bibilomo Olushekun.
Mrs. Olushekun explained that the state government has shown consistent commitment to the welfare of local government workers through the loan scheme. She noted that in the first two quarters of the year, a total sum of ₦225,500,000.00 was disbursed to 515 beneficiaries. According to her, this ongoing initiative is part of government’s continuous efforts to uplift the living conditions of public servants, thereby fostering productivity and job satisfaction.
She stated, “The housing loan scheme is designed to support staff in meeting critical housing needs and to improve their overall quality of life.”
The Permanent Secretary also urged the latest beneficiaries to make judicious use of the approved funds, emphasising that the initiative is an important step in improving staff welfare and in sustaining a motivated workforce in the Lagos State Local Government Service.
