July 4, 2025 – The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems has announced the Lagos Agric Scholars Programme (LASP) 2025, aimed at promoting agricultural education and innovation in schools. As part of the initiative, a statewide vegetable farming competition is now open to public and private senior secondary schools across Lagos.
According to the ministry, schools stand a chance to win farm inputs and equipment worth up to N10 million. “We’re calling on schools in Lagos to get their hands dirty and their minds growing,” the statement reads. “This is an opportunity to cultivate innovation, teamwork, and a greener future.”
To qualify, interested school must possess the following criteria:
1. Availability of minimum of 300sq.mts of farmland suitable for agricultural use.
2. Accessibility of the land to the students and project monitoring officers.
3. Access to adequate water supply.
4. Availability of an in-house agricultural science teachers.
