Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA) has honoured the Executive Director of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Ibadan, Prof. Gabriel Akinboye Oluwatosin, with an Award of Excellence for his outstanding dedication and contributions to agricultural development in Lagos State.
The award was presented by the Coordinating Director of LSADA, Mrs. Aderonke Toju-Tubi, during the Authority’s August Monthly Technology Review Meeting (MTRM), held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the LSADA Conference Room.
“This award is to recognise the positive impact, tireless contributions, and remarkable achievements of IAR&T towards the promotion and advancement of agriculture in Lagos State,” Mrs. Toju-Tubi stated.
Receiving the award on behalf of Prof. Oluwatosin, Dr. Samson Oyewole Olanipekun, Lagos Team Leader for REFILS, expressed appreciation. He said IAR&T remained committed to supporting LSADA in its drive to boost sustainable agricultural productivity across the state.
The presentation was held after the review of the Pre-MTRM field monitoring report, a joint initiative by IAR&T and LSADA. The exercise assessed farmer performance, productivity levels, and challenges in the Western zone, including Dog Centre Command, Igesu, Odo Adamo, and Olorunnisola in Ayobo.
Findings highlighted operational and environmental constraints while also giving farmers access to proven technologies and practical solutions for effective results.
The MTRM session gathered LSADA management, unit heads, and component leaders to translate field reports into actionable strategies. Discussions stressed structured training, efficient resource management, and consistent follow-up to increase productivity and strengthen food security in Lagos State.
As part of the knowledge-sharing programme, Engr. (Dr.) Omotosho Adeyinka from IAR&T delivered a technical presentation on the design and installation of efficient drip irrigation systems. He explained how drip irrigation supports climate-smart agriculture by improving water use efficiency and enhancing crop yields.
In addition, Mr. Oladapo Kalesanwo of the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PME) Component presented a market analysis report. The report detailed the average retail prices of major food commodities for July and August 2025, offering valuable data for farmers and policymakers to guide production planning, distribution, and agricultural investment decisions.
