LEAP Africa has officially opened applications for its International Volunteer for Development (IV4D) programme.

This initiative offers young Africans the chance to gain professional development while creating meaningful change across communities. According to LEAP Africa, “This is your gateway to purposeful engagement, professional development, and meaningful impact across Africa.”

The IV4D programme is open to a wide range of applicants:

i. Undergraduates
ii. Graduates
iii. Professionals

Volunteer opportunities span several departments, including Programmes, Monitoring & Evaluation, ICT, E-learning, Finance & Procurement, People, Culture & Admin, Communications & PR, Business Development & Grants, Research & Learning (MERL), Advocacy, and Administration.

As for why one should volunteer, LEAP Africa outlined several benefits:

Volunteers who meet the criteria may also be eligible to receive data stipends during their time of service.

Participants will have the opportunity to support LEAP Africa’s flagship programmes:

Social Innovators Programme (SIP), Youth Day of Service (YDoS), Youth Leadership Development Programme (YLDP), LEAD The Way, Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), Women’s Leadership Accelerator, and more…

Volunteering durations are flexible and categorized as follows:
Short-term (1–3 months), Mid-term (4–12 months), and Long-term (12 months and beyond).

Eligibility is inclusive and spans various forms of engagement:

i. Open to Virtual, In-person, and Hybrid Roles
ii. Young people and students
iii. Mid-level professionals
iv. Experienced changemakers
