Literature Question in MCPE Won’t Be Scored – Abia EDC

The Examinations Development Commission (EDC) of Abia State has issued an important notice regarding a recent error in the ongoing MCPE examinations. In a letter dated 23rd July 2025, signed by Mrs. Kanu U. P, Director of EDC, the Commission admitted to including a Literature question that was not part of the approved syllabus.

“We regret the inclusion of a Literature question in the ongoing MCPE that is not part of the approved scheme,” the notice stated. The EDC assured that the question will not be scored and no candidate will be penalized.

“The Examinations Development Centre (EDC) wishes to inform you that it has come to our attention that the theory questions in the Literature paper for the ongoing MCPE do not align with the scheme of work that was earlier referenced during the preparation of the paper.”

“In order to uphold fairness and ensure no candidate is disadvantaged, we have directed that only the objective section of the Literature paper will be scored. Kindly note that this decision has been taken in the best interest of the students across the state.”

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation as we work together to maintain the integrity of the examination process.”
