Applications are now open for the MasterCard Songhai Scholarships in Agriculture 2026 for Nigerian students. The announcement was made on January 10, 2026, by Ifeoma Chuks. The Mastercard Foundation, in collaboration with Songhai, has launched the Songhai/Mastercard Integrated Agriculture Scholarship, calling on young Nigerians to participate in the initiative.

According to the organizers, “The Songhai/Mastercard Youth Agricultural Empowerment Scheme is aimed at training and seeing over 3,000 young Nigerians in agriculture; particularly 70% of young women within the next 3 years as modern farm managers/technicians, and agro-entrepreneurs.”

This partnership marks the beginning of a three-month training program focused on agro-business. The program is designed to create long-term opportunities for African youths in agriculture, with an ambitious goal for the next decade. It combines classroom learning and practical sessions in sustainable farming and agribusiness management.

The organizers stated that the application process is ongoing for this intensive 3-month Boot Camp, which will provide hands-on experience in various aspects of modern farming. The training will prepare participants to become skilled farm managers, technicians, and entrepreneurs capable of leading in the agricultural sector.

Participants will be trained in several agricultural branches, including Crop Production, Animal Husbandry, Aquaculture, and Food Processing. The scholarship program offers full support, covering tuition, feeding, accommodation, training materials, and a business growth kit.

Additional benefits include access to market linkages, mentorship opportunities, and data sharing on production and market trends. “We are building a new generation of agro-entrepreneurs who can feed communities, generate income, and contribute to sustainable development,” the organizers noted.

Eligible applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old, either already engaged in an agricultural venture or passionate about starting one. They must be able to travel to Ebonyi or Owerri for the training and have the capacity to implement their knowledge afterward. Commitment to starting or expanding an agro venture after the training is required.

The program is open to Nigerians only, and the number of awards has not been specified. Interested applicants can apply through the official website at https://songhai.org/en/mastercard-foundation-songhai-3-month-integrated-agricultural-boot-camp-in-nigeria/.
