The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has said its ongoing Renewable Energy Industrial Park project in Gora, Nasarawa State, will generate about 2,000 direct jobs and 50,000 indirect employment opportunities upon completion.

NASENI disclosed this as construction activities at the 40-hectare facility continued to gather pace, positioning the project as a major driver of job creation and industrial growth in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.

According to the agency, the industrial park is designed as a multi-energy hub that will support local manufacturing of renewable energy components, including solar panels, mounting systems, wind equipment, and biomass technologies.

Officials explained that the initiative is aimed at reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported renewable energy equipment while strengthening local capacity across the value chain.

Speaking during a recent inspection of the project site, the Special Adviser to the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI and Project Manager, Engr. Sadiq Abdullahi Muhammad, said the employment potential of the project remains one of its most significant benefits.

He noted that beyond the 2,000 direct jobs expected within the facility, the project would stimulate over 50,000 indirect jobs across supporting industries such as logistics, construction, manufacturing support services, and maintenance.

Muhammad added that the park would also serve as a catalyst for broader industrialisation by attracting private sector participation and fostering collaboration with academic and research institutions.

He stated that key facilities within the park would include a wind assembly plant, solar panel manufacturing units, research and development centres, workshops, and supporting infrastructure such as internal roads and power systems.

The NASENI official further explained that the project aligns with the Federal Government’s efforts to address energy poverty and boost economic development, particularly as millions of Nigerians continue to face limited access to reliable electricity.

He emphasised that the park would not only meet local demand but also position Nigeria to export renewable energy technologies to other African markets.

The agency noted that multiple contractors are currently handling different components of the project, reflecting steady progress and growing momentum at the site.

NASENI added that the Renewable Energy Industrial Park forms a key part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance energy security, promote local manufacturing, and establish Nigeria as a leading renewable energy hub on the continent.
