The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has invited all accredited training providers offering construction trades under the Federal Government’s New TVET Initiative to register their candidates for the 6th Construction Artisans Awards and Skills Expo (CAA 2026), scheduled to hold in January 2026.
In a circular dated 12th December 2025, obtained by Nigeria Startup News on Friday, and signed by the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, the Board extended its greetings to all training providers and emphasized that the event is part of ongoing national efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s skills ecosystem and promote the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) Framework.
According to the circular, “The 6th Construction Artisans Awards (CAA 2026) will hold in January 2026. The CAA is a national skills excellence programme organized by C-STEMP in collaboration with NBTE, the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), the Building Construction Sector Skills Council, and other stakeholders across the construction sector.”
The statement explained that the CAA serves as a platform for identifying and showcasing outstanding trainees and NSQ candidates in key construction trades. It also aims at strengthening Nigeria’s preparation for WorldSkills Nigeria, WorldSkills Africa, and other international competitions while promoting visibility for NSQ training providers and expanding employment opportunities for certified artisans.
NBTE requested all training providers offering NSQ programmes in trades such as Carpentry and Joinery, Masonry, Tiling, Plumbing, Electrical Installation, Painting and Decorating, and Metal Fabrication to register eligible candidates via the official link caa-contest.cstemp.org.
It added that “providers may register multiple candidates across different trade areas, subject to internal selection processes.”
The Board listed several benefits of participation, noting that it enhances institutional visibility and national ranking, supports the Federal Ministry of Education’s New TVET reform, provides candidates with hands-on experience aligned with global standards, builds a national pipeline for future representation at international events, and enables data gathering on artisan competence and sector readiness.
Prof. Bugaje concluded by expressing confidence in the success of the upcoming event, saying, “We look forward to your full participation as we work together to elevate skills excellence and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in the construction sector.”
