The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has confirmed plans to launch the second phase of its Renewed Hope Empowerment Initiative in July. This was officially announced today, June 24, by the NDE Director General, H.E. Silas Agara, during a valedictory ceremony in Abuja held to honour retiring NDE officials.

According to H.E. Silas Agara, the second phase of the empowerment programme will build on the achievements of the first phase, with several improvements made to address the challenges previously faced. He said, “We have taken feedback seriously and introduced better structures to ensure greater impact in this next phase.”

The DG revealed that the NDE has partnered with the Development Bank of Nigeria and international organisations to enhance the programme’s reach and success. These partnerships, he noted, are aimed at improving financial access for beneficiaries and creating more sustainable job opportunities for Nigerians.

During the event, the DG expressed appreciation to the retiring officials for their commitment, stating, “Many of you have served this country for over 35 years. Your dedication will not be forgotten, and some of you will still play active roles in ongoing NDE programmes.”

He encouraged current staff to remain focused on the agency’s mission, reminding them that “loyalty to the NDE’s objectives should come before personal interests.”

The ceremony also featured praises for the DG’s leadership style. Architect Umar Ibrahim, Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Agency, described H.E. Silas Agara as “a consummate, results-driven leader.”

In her remarks, Mrs. Ndripaya Battah Mary, representing the retirees, thanked the DG for organising the event despite financial constraints. Mrs. Philomena Dipo-Ojo also commended the recognition given to the retirees, saying it would motivate serving staff.
