The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA), Great Ogban, has said that the new tax law will end multiple taxations affecting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

Ogban made this statement at a high-level Tax Reforms Town Hall Meeting held in Abuja by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), in partnership with the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) and the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

He said the reforms are aimed at easing the tax burden on businesses and creating a fairer operating environment. “The new tax law is designed to address the long-standing issue of multiple taxation, which has been a major challenge for SMEs,” Ogban said.

The session focused on explaining the new fiscal policies, with discussions on key provisions, economic impact, compliance opportunities, and open dialogue between policymakers and the public.

The event featured key stakeholders, including Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the NRS; Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms; and Charles Odii, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of SMEDAN.

Organisers confirmed that the town hall series will expand into a nationwide tour to engage business owners nationwide soon.
