The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, alongside his management team, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN. The visit reaffirmed NITDA’s readiness to partner with ICPC in advancing transparency, accountability, and good governance through technology.

During the visit, Abdullahi stressed the importance of collaboration in tackling corruption using digital solutions. He explained that one of the key highlights of this partnership is NITDA’s plan to provide websites for all Local Government Councils across Nigeria. According to him, “Every local government will have an online presence where information about budgets, projects, and government activities can be easily accessed by citizens.”

He noted that this move would not only improve citizen engagement but also boost Nigeria’s anti-corruption drive by making local governments more visible and accountable. The initiative aims to close the information gap, reduce corruption risks, and promote trust between the government and the people.

In his remarks, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu described the partnership as a step that aligns with global best practices. He said the collaboration reflects the principles of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which encourages agencies to work together to prevent corruption before it happens.

The partnership is expected to give Nigerians easier access to information about their local councils, ensure transparent sharing of budgets and projects, and create a platform where leaders can be held accountable.
