The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority has secured accreditation from the Green Climate Fund as a Direct Access Entity, marking a major step in its climate finance drive.

The authority disclosed this in a statement on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, noting that the accreditation strengthens its role in supporting climate-resilient and sustainable development across Nigeria.

According to NSIA, the milestone will enable it to directly access and deploy funding from the Green Climate Fund into locally driven climate projects, in line with Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contributions under global climate agreements.

The agency added that the partnership would help mobilise investments, scale innovative climate solutions, and strengthen project pipelines across key sectors.

It also stated that the accreditation would deepen impact by supporting initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions while enhancing climate resilience nationwide.

NSIA further emphasised its commitment to working with stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes that align with Nigeria’s low-carbon development goals.
