The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially announced details for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream One Orientation Course. This exercise marks the formal commencement of national service for prospective corps members who have been mobilised for the 2026 service year. The Orientation Course will take place simultaneously across all NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide and is a compulsory requirement for all participants.
The Orientation Course is designed to prepare prospective corps members physically, mentally, and socially for the service year ahead. It also serves as a platform to introduce participants to the objectives, rules, and values of the NYSC Scheme, while fostering national unity, discipline, and cultural integration among young Nigerian graduates.
Orientation Course Schedule
The NYSC 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream One Orientation Course is scheduled to hold in all NYSC Orientation Camps as follows:
- Commencement/Registration: Wednesday, 21st January, 2026
- Cut-off Date for Registration: Midnight of Friday, 23rd January, 2026
- Swearing-In Ceremony: Friday, 23rd January, 2026
- Closing Ceremony: Tuesday, 10th February, 2026
Prospective corps members are expected to strictly adhere to these dates, as late registration beyond the stipulated cut-off date will not be entertained under any circumstance.
Deployment and Reporting Instructions
All Prospective Corps Members deployed for the Orientation Course are advised to proceed to their respective orientation camps as clearly indicated on their Call-up Letters. The Call-up Letter contains vital information such as the state of deployment, orientation camp address, and reporting instructions, which must be carefully followed.
Foreign-trained graduates are required to report to the orientation camps with the following documents:
- International Passport
- Original copies of all documents uploaded during online registration
Failure to present these documents may result in denial of registration at the camp.
Guidance on Call-up Letters
Prospective Corps Members are strongly enjoined to carefully read through their Call-up Letters and internalize all the information contained therein. The Call-up Letter serves as an official directive and includes important guidelines on reporting, documentation, and conduct throughout the Orientation Course.
Travel and Security Advisory
In view of security considerations, Prospective Corps Members are advised to observe the following safety guidelines while travelling to their respective orientation camps:
- Board vehicles only at government-approved motor parks and registered transportation companies
- Avoid boarding vehicles from unapproved locations or roadside stops
- Remain vigilant and cautious throughout the journey
These measures are aimed at reducing the risk of falling prey to criminals and other security-related hazards.
Advisory on Night Travel
The NYSC strongly advises Prospective Corps Members to avoid night journeys. Once it is 6:00pm, participants are encouraged to break their journeys and pass the night at any of the following locations nearest to their point of disembarkment:
- Military barracks
- Police barracks
- NYSC State Secretariats
- NYSC Corps Lodges
This advisory is issued in the interest of safety and must be taken seriously by all Prospective Corps Members.
Special Requirements for Certain Graduates
Prospective Corps Members who are graduates of Monotechnics and Polytechnics are required to present the following as a prerequisite for registration:
- National Diploma (ND) Certificate
- Other relevant academic documents
These documents are mandatory and must be original.
Warning Against Fake Documents
On no account should any Prospective Corps Member present fake or falsified documents for registration. Any individual found engaging in such acts will be apprehended and handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution in accordance with the law.
Loss of Call-up Letter
In the event of loss of a Call-up Letter:
- Prospective Corps Members who collected their Call-up Letters from their institutions are advised to:
- Obtain a Police Report
- Secure a Sworn Affidavit
- Report back to their institution for further necessary action
- Those who printed their Call-up Letters online can reprint them in the event of loss
Legal Implications of Failure to Report
Any person who fails to report for service as directed in the Call-up Letter, or refuses to make themselves available for service, shall be prosecuted in line with:
- Section 13, Sub-section 1(a) and (b) of the NYSC Act, Cap. N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004
Similarly, any person who is not eligible to participate in the Service Corps, or who has already been issued a Certificate of National Service or Certificate of Exemption but still attempts to participate, shall be prosecuted under:
- Section 13, Sub-section 2(a) and (b) of the NYSC Act, Cap. N84, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004
Special Provisions for Married, Pregnant, and Nursing Mothers
All married, pregnant, and nursing mothers who are posted to states other than their husbands’ states of domicile may proceed to the NYSC Orientation Camps in their states of residence, regardless of their posting.
In addition to the general registration requirements, they must present the following documents:
- Evidence of marriage
- Acceptable identification of their husbands, such as:
- Data page of International Passport
- Driver’s License
- National Identity Card
- Evidence of husband’s place of domicile
These documents will be used to verify claims and facilitate appropriate postings.

- Original Statement of Result or Certificate endorsed by an authorized officer with authentic signature

- Physiotherapists
