Ogun Gov meets Rizhao Mayor on Olokola deep sea port, minerals

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Saturday morning met with the Mayor of Rizhao, Wang Xinsheng, in a strategic session focused on deepening economic and cultural ties between Ogun State and the Chinese coastal city.

During the meeting, Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of the Olokola Deep Sea Port project to the State’s long-term growth. He explained that the project would serve as a gateway for increased trade between Africa and Asia, while also positioning Ogun as Nigeria’s leading industrial and maritime hub. “The Olokola Deep Sea Port is central to the future of Ogun State. Its development will attract world-class technical expertise and investment, opening new opportunities for trade and industrialization,” he said.

Governor Abiodun disclosed that discussions with Rizhao, a city globally recognized for its thriving port economy, were aimed at leveraging technical know-how and attracting international investors to boost the project’s progress. He also noted the opportunities available in the area of mineral development, pointing out that Ogun’s rich mineral deposits offer potential for exploration and value-added processing. “Our administration is ready to partner with reputable global players in the mineral sector to boost industrialization, create jobs and expand our revenue base,” the Governor stated.

The Governor also highlighted the need for cultural and people-to-people exchanges between Ogun and Rizhao, stressing that such initiatives would promote mutual understanding, strengthen bilateral relations, and support educational and tourism growth.

Governor Abiodun described the meeting with Mayor Wang Xinsheng as a milestone in Ogun State’s international investment drive, reinforcing the State’s profile as a preferred destination for global partnerships.
