The National Industrial Manpower Summit (NIMS) 2025, an initiative led by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industrial Training and Development, is scheduled to take place from Monday, August 12 to Wednesday, August 14, 2025.

Daily sessions will begin at 9:00AM (WAT) at Eagle Square, Abuja, with a focus on manpower development as a driver of national progress.

NIMS 2025 is part of a presidential initiative designed to improve industrial growth through a stronger, more skilled workforce. According to the organisers, the summit is “a bold, strategic response” to Nigeria’s widening manpower challenge, which continues to affect job creation, global competitiveness, and productivity.

Despite being Africa’s largest economy and the continent’s most populous country, Nigeria faces serious issues in matching workforce skills with industrial demands. The event will bring together key players in government, business, education, and international development to find new solutions.

The mission of NIMS 2025 is to reshape how the country develops and sustains industrial manpower. According to the summit brief, the event aims to:

i. Identify and address sector-specific skill gaps
ii. Design new frameworks for apprenticeship and vocational training
iii. Build stronger ties between education, government, and industry
iv. Set policy direction for a long-term workforce strategy
v. Position Nigeria as a regional leader in industrial skills development

“We are launching a national shift with NIMS 2025,” said one of the organisers. “The future of Nigeria’s industrial strength depends on the quality of its people. We’re designing outcomes that build industries, create jobs, and make Nigeria’s economy work for everyone.”

The summit is backed by Nigeria’s top leadership and is aligned with long-term goals to improve economic transformation. It is built to attract local and international attention to how Nigeria plans to accelerate industrial training and development.

The theme of the summit, Manpower Development: The Bridge Between Potential and Productivity, reflects the urgency and importance of preparing Nigeria’s workforce for future challenges.
