The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has dismissed a viral message circulating on social media about the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (RH_CCT), warning the public against fake online applications. According to the NOA, there is no online application process for the program, contrary to claims being shared widely across platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook.

Speaking at the close of work on Friday, the Ondo State Director of NOA, Mr. James Adekunle, addressed the issue directly. “The message going around is completely false,” he stated. “It falsely quoted the governor and misled people into thinking they could apply for the RH_CCT scheme by simply clicking a link. That is not true.”

Mr. Adekunle clarified that the Single Register (SR), which was used to select beneficiaries in the second phase of the debit card disbursement, was generated through a rigorous Community-Based Targeting (CBT) process. He explained that trained desk officers and enumerators, using GPRS-compliant devices, conducted data gathering at the community level across all 18 local government areas in Ondo State, in line with national policy.

He further assured the public that the Ondo State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU) would soon begin another round of data collection through the approved CBT process. This will give eligible individuals another opportunity to be added to the Single Register during its planned expansion.

“There will be an official communication when the process begins,” Mr. Adekunle added. “People should ignore any message that’s not from a verified government source. For accurate information, they should follow updates from NOA, the Public and Intergovernmental Relations Office of Ondo State, or official press releases from the Federal Government.”

The RH_CCT scheme, which provides financial support to vulnerable Nigerians, is designed to operate under strict guidelines to ensure transparency and accuracy. The NOA reiterated that any legitimate application process would be made public and will not involve third-party links.
