The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), under the Presidency, has announced a temporary suspension on the implementation of recent circulars regarding reviewed allowances for medical, dental, and other health professionals working in the Federal Public Service.

According to a statement released from the Office of the Executive Chairman, Ekpo U. O. Nta, Esq., on July 18, 2025, this decision follows a meeting chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance/Coordinating Minister of the Economy, who also serves as the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Salaries.

The meeting, which took place at 3:00pm, resolved that the circulars numbered SWC/S/04/S.218/III/646 and SWC/S/04/S.218/III/651 dated 27th June 2025, and SWC/S/04/S.410/VII/658 dated 30th June 2025, should be put on hold. This will allow more time for engagement with key stakeholders.

The notice was addressed to senior government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Deputy Chief of Staff, Honourable Ministers, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Head of the Civil Service, Federal Permanent Secretaries, and leaders of key commissions and agencies.

“The suspension is necessary to allow for further consultation with the various Professional Associations and Unions in the Health and Education Sectors,” Nta stated.
