TVET to allow applicants select training centres from April 8

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative under the Federal Ministry of Education has announced that applicants will now be able to select their preferred training centres directly during registration starting from April 8.

The development comes amid complaints from applicants who were approved for the programme but have not been assigned to any training centre.

In an email sent to affected applicants, the programme organisers stated that some candidates could not be matched due to limited training slots and the unavailability of accredited centres offering their selected trades within their chosen locations.

The message explained that placement is strictly based on the availability of accredited centres within each local government area, noting that delays may occur where suitable centres are not available.

It added that matching would continue once more centres are accredited or additional training slots become available.

The new update is expected to address the challenge by giving applicants the opportunity to choose centres themselves, potentially reducing delays in placement.

Some applicants, however, expressed concerns over the initial matching process, describing it as slow and unclear.

With the April 8 rollout, stakeholders say the new approach could improve transparency and speed up deployment into training centres nationwide.
