The United States Secret Service has opened recruitment for its Uniformed Division, offering a financial incentive of up to $75,000 to attract qualified applicants interested in protecting critical U.S. government facilities and national leaders.
The recruitment announcement was shared through the agency’s official page on X on Monday, outlining eligibility requirements, job responsibilities, and the benefits available to successful candidates.
According to the agency, applicants must be U.S. citizens between the ages of 20 and 40 and must possess a valid driver’s licence. Prospective officers are also required to pass medical screenings, background investigations, and qualify for a Top Secret security clearance before they can be considered for the role.
The agency noted that eligible applicants may have obtained citizenship by birth in the United States, through U.S. citizen parents, or through naturalisation.
Explaining the role of the division, the Secret Service stated that officers are responsible for protecting key federal facilities and locations connected to individuals under Secret Service protection.
“These include the White House, the Vice President’s residence at the United States Naval Observatory, the United States Department of the Treasury Building, and foreign diplomatic missions located in Washington, D.C.,” the agency said.
Officers may also assist with protective operations involving the President of the United States, the Vice President, and visiting foreign leaders.
The agency added that members of the division can serve in specialised units such as Counter Sniper teams, Emergency Response teams, and K-9 units depending on operational needs and training.
The recruitment process will include entrance examinations, interviews, background investigations, and physical fitness assessments.
Successful applicants must complete 13 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers before undergoing an additional 18 weeks of specialised training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
The Secret Service said the $75,000 recruitment incentive will be paid in instalments over four years, tied to training completion and continued service. New recruits are expected to earn annual salaries ranging from $77,987 to $134,165 depending on experience and career progression.
