Students of the University of Agriculture, Science and Technology (UAST), Ihugh, can now apply for a student loan after the institution was successfully integrated into the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) platform.
The announcement was made by Prof. Qrisstuberg Amua, Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, in a statement obtained by Nigeria Startup News on Wednesday.
According to the statement, “Learners whose data we have uploaded may now apply for financial support covering school charges and approved upkeep allowances.”
The Vice-Chancellor explained that the integration into the NELFUND platform will allow eligible students to access financial support to ease the burden of tuition and other approved expenses while continuing their studies.
He also noted that the development reflects the commitment of Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State and Visitor to the University. It is aimed at removing financial barriers, strengthening academic continuity, and supporting learner success without compromising excellence.
Eligible Learners are advised to visit the official NELFUND portal — https://portal.nelf.gov.ng/ — and complete their applications not later than 27th February, 2026.
Students who have successfully completed the process are encouraged to assist colleagues who may require guidance.
The statement added that UAST Ihugh remains resolute in advancing scholarship, innovation, and productivity.
