The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital has officially announced that recruitment is now open, inviting applications from qualified candidates for several medical, technical, and administrative positions. In a statement released by the management, the hospital said the vacancies cut across different professional levels and are aimed at strengthening service delivery.
According to the notice, “Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following posts in the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.”
The list begins with Consultant positions under CONMESS 5 in Surgery, Anaesthesia, and Oncology. Applicants must have an MBBS or equivalent, along with a recognised fellowship such as FWACS or FWACP, and full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. Registrar roles under CONMESS 3 are also open to candidates with MBBS or BDS who have completed housemanship and NYSC, and are enrolled in or eligible for residency training. Medical Officer and Dental Officer positions, both under CONMESS 3, require similar qualifications including full MDCN registration, internship, and NYSC completion or exemption.
The hospital is also recruiting Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, and Radiographers under CONHESS 9, each requiring relevant degrees, valid licenses, and completion of internship and NYSC. Further positions include Planning Officer II, Scientific Officer II, Information and Public Relation Officer II, and Program/System Analyst II under CONHESS 7, all requiring good first degrees in relevant fields and completion of NYSC.
Other openings include Health Records Officers, Environmental Health Officers, Higher Technical Officers, Higher Store Officers, Executive Officers, Medical Social Welfare Officers, Medical Laboratory Scientists, and Senior Nursing Officers. The hospital also listed Nursing Officer I, engineering roles in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering, Administrative Officer II, and Accountant II. For some posts, professional qualifications such as ICAN or ANAN are described as a major advantage.
Technical and mid-level positions such as Pharmacy Technician, Health Records Technician, Staff Nurse II, Dental Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician, Environmental Health Technician, and Community Health Technician are also available. These require relevant National Diplomas, certificates, and registration with appropriate regulatory bodies.
The management emphasized that the application process will be strictly online. It stated, “To ensure a smooth and fair process for all candidates, we require all applications to be submitted via our online application portal.” The portal, https://recruitment.umth.gov.ng, opened on 20th November 2025 and will close on 2nd January 2026.
Applicants are instructed to upload a single PDF document containing both their resume and application letter. The hospital noted that submissions after the deadline or in the wrong format will not be considered, adding that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
