UNIABUJA Opens Admission for 2024/2025 Postgraduate Energy Programmes

The University of Abuja Centre for Petroleum and Energy Resource Economics has officially announced the commencement of applications for its Postgraduate Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session. The institution is inviting candidates from diverse professional backgrounds to apply, including those in Social Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Geoscience, Management Sciences, Finance, Law, Education, Military, and Agriculture.

Speaking on the programme’s relevance, a university representative noted, “Our postgraduate programmes are designed to meet the growing global demand for highly skilled energy professionals, especially in areas such as renewable energy, oil and gas management, and electricity economics.”

The Centre offers several specialized postgraduate courses in the energy sector:

Doctorate in Energy Economics (Full Time and Part Time)

Professional Masters in Energy Economics (Full Time and Part Time)

General Admission Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must have five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at O Level in no more than two sittings. For Doctorate programmes, candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Petroleum and Energy Economics or a related field. Master’s degree applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Lower Division, or a PGD in Petroleum and Energy Economics. PGD applicants need a minimum of a Third Class Bachelor’s degree or an HND (Lower Credit). An NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter is also required.

Course Duration

Professional Doctorate Degree
Full-time: Minimum 36 months
Part-time: Minimum 42 months

MSc and Professional Masters
Full-time: 3 to 6 semesters
Part-time: 6 to 8 semesters

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
Full-time: 2 to 4 semesters
Part-time: 4 to 6 semesters
