Four members of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) faculty have emerged as recipients of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and National Research Fund (NRF) grant awards for the year 2024, Batch 10. The award recognizes outstanding academic research projects with impact on education, economy, and public health in Nigeria.
The grant awardees and their projects were announced as follows: Dr. Aneyo Idowu Ayisat of the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Life Sciences, for the project titled “Advanced Solutions for Tackling Novel Psychoactive Substances in Nigeria: Integrating Prevalence Studies, Analytical Profiling, and Cost-Effective Detection Technologies.”
Also recognized was Dr. Egunjobi Adenike Titilayo of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, for the project “Bridging the Skill Gap to Improve Higher Education Quality and Graduate Employability in Nigeria.” The project focuses on advancing skills that meet labor market demands.
In addition, Dr. Ehigie Julius Osato of the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Physical and Earth Sciences, received the grant for “Modelling of Real-Time Air Pollution Tracking for Air-Quality Index Calculations: An Innovative Time-Integrator for the Numerical.”
Similarly, Dr. Odeleye Anthonia of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, was awarded for the project “An Investigation of Economic Policy Shocks, Welfare Lessons and Coping Strategies of Women in Nigeria’s Informal Sector.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, congratulated the recipients, saying, “On behalf of the University Senate, staff and students, we celebrate this remarkable achievement.”
