The Women in Agriculture Leadership Program Fellowship is inviting women to apply for a programme that will support 100 African women scientists to become leaders in climate-smart agricultural research.
The fellowship is organised by the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) with support from the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and Australian Aid. It is part of the Africa–Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture, which focuses on strengthening agricultural research that can respond to climate change challenges across Africa.
The programme is designed to support mid-career women scientists working in agriculture, agricultural science, and related research fields. Through this fellowship, selected participants will receive leadership training, mentoring opportunities, and professional development support that will help them grow their influence within the agricultural research sector.
The main goal is to improve the number of women leading agricultural research projects across Africa while also strengthening the ability of research institutions to promote gender-responsive and climate-resilient agricultural innovations.
By supporting women scientists, the programme also aims to encourage the development of agricultural solutions that respond to the needs of both women and men smallholder farmers. This is important because climate change continues to affect farming systems across the continent, making research and innovation more important than ever.
Fellows selected for the programme will take part in a series of structured activities that combine leadership development, mentoring partnerships, and technical training. These activities are designed to strengthen participants’ confidence, research capacity, and leadership ability in climate-responsive agriculture.
Women scientists who are passionate about transforming agricultural research in Africa are encouraged to apply. The fellowship is open to applicants from six African countries: Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
Women working in agriculture, agricultural science, or closely related sectors can use this opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills, expand their professional networks, and contribute to climate-resilient agricultural innovation across Africa.
Applications are submitted online through the official application page https://form.jotform.com/260620291228956.
