Zamfara Govt Assures NYSC Members of Prompt State Allowance Payment

The Zamfara State Government has assured NYSC members posted to state government institutions and private establishments across the state of prompt payment of their state allowances.

The assurance was given by Governor Dauda Lawal during the closing ceremony of the three-week orientation course for 2026 Batch A, Stream One corps members. The event was held at the UBE Training Centre, Bypass, Gusau.

Declaring the orientation course closed, Governor Lawal urged the corps members to make meaningful contributions to critical sectors of the state’s development. He highlighted education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, and community development projects as key areas where their impact would be strongly felt. He also encouraged them to bring innovative ideas to their places of primary assignment.

The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Alhaji Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the welfare and security of corps members. He described their welfare and safety as a top priority of the Dauda Lawal-led administration.

He stated that the government recognises the sacrifices made by corps members serving in Zamfara State and is determined to ensure their safety and comfort throughout their service year. According to him, the administration remains focused on providing the necessary support to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.

Governor Lawal noted that the orientation course had equipped the corps members with discipline, leadership skills, and a strong sense of patriotism. He urged them to allow these values to guide their conduct, interactions, and contributions wherever they are posted.

He further disclosed that his administration is committed to restoring lasting peace, rebuilding infrastructure, revitalising education, improving healthcare delivery, and creating opportunities for the people of Zamfara State, especially the youth. He expressed optimism that the corps members would actively participate in teaching, healthcare services, agricultural extension programmes, and community development projects.

The governor described their skills, creativity, and youthful energy as valuable assets to the state. He added that their involvement in key sectors would contribute positively to the overall growth and development of Zamfara.

Governor Lawal also stated that the recent constitution of the NYSC State Governing Board demonstrates his administration’s commitment to the NYSC scheme. He explained that the board would strengthen coordination between the state government and the NYSC, improve support for corps members, and enhance the overall impact of the scheme in the state.

Dr. Dauda Lawal assured the corps members that those who distinguish themselves through hard work, integrity, and meaningful contributions to their host communities would be recognised and honoured by the Zamfara State Government at the end of their service year.

The governor commended the NYSC management, camp commandant, instructors, medical personnel, security agencies, and other collaborating institutions for their efforts in ensuring the success of the orientation exercise.

He urged the corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC, respect their host communities, and uphold the customs and traditions of the people of Zamfara State.

Earlier, the State NYSC Coordinator, Malam Muhammad Lawal Ahmad, expressed appreciation to Governor Dauda Lawal for fulfilling his promises to corps members in the state.

According to him, the recent increase in state allowances has significantly improved the welfare of corps members. He added that the provision of solar lighting at the temporary orientation camp, along with other essential equipment, has enhanced comfort and safety within the camp.

Malam Muhammad Lawal Ahmad also advised corps members to remain disciplined, respectful, and hardworking, urging them to demonstrate commitment and dedication throughout their service year.
