The Federal Government’s Household Prosperity and Empowerment Cash Transfer (HoPE-CT) programme is attracting fresh attention after a beneficiary shared an SMS showing a ₦25,000 household payment through TagPay.
The message, dated October 29, stated that the household had received ₦25,000 under HoPE-CT. It also displayed a partially masked account number and listed 969 for enquiries.
The alert shows an individual payment notification, but does not establish that payments have reached all beneficiaries or that nationwide disbursement is complete. The government has not published a nationwide update confirming the TagPay alert.
Under the programme, eligible households are expected to receive ₦75,000 in three instalments of ₦25,000. Payments target vulnerable households identified through the government’s social protection system. The support is not an open application for every Nigerian.
Beneficiaries should confirm SMS alerts directly with their payment provider or the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO) before attempting withdrawals. They should not pay agents, click suspicious links or disclose their personal identification number (PIN) or one-time password (OTP).
How to access your payment
If you receive an alert, check your account through the provider’s official app, branch or verified customer service channel. For programme enquiries, visit the NCTO website at ncto.nsipa.gov.ng. Do not rely on unverified USSD codes or social media messages.
