The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has commenced the distribution of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) ATM cards to adolescent girls and their caregivers in Nasarawa State.
The rollout began at the Lafia Area Office and will extend to six additional Local Government Areas under the first cohort. These areas include Awe, Wamba, Doma, Kokona, Keana, and Nasarawa.
Speaking during the launch, the State Project Coordinator, Hajiya Aishatu Aliyu Isoga, described the programme as a targeted intervention aimed at tackling financial barriers affecting girls’ education. She explained that the initiative is a key investment in human capital and community development.
“By easing financial burdens and encouraging school attendance, we are investing in the future of our girls and our communities,” she stated.
The introduction of ATM cards is expected to provide transparent, secure, and timely access to funds for beneficiaries. This system will also help strengthen accountability while ensuring household stability.
AGILE reaffirmed its commitment to creating an enabling environment where adolescent girls can remain in school, succeed academically, acquire life skills, and make meaningful contributions to society.
