The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has commenced a series of Train-the-Trainer workshops for selected staff who will serve as facilitators at the newly established ITF Model Skills Academy. The initiative is aimed at strengthening staff capacity, promoting excellence in skills delivery, and ensuring that training at the Academy meets global industry standards.

According to the ITF, the training covers key areas such as Culinary Arts, Monogram and Embroidery, and Tailoring and Garment Making. It is designed to equip instructors with modern teaching techniques and provide hands-on exposure to industry-standard tools and methods.

In partnership with Couture D’Afrique Fashion Academy, Lagos, the Tailoring and Garment Making session introduced participants to the City and Guilds–aligned curriculum, digital design tools, and advanced finishing techniques. The programme also focuses on improving technical education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship development across Nigeria.

Speaking on the programme, the Director, Business Training Development Department, Mrs. Linda Ego Egbuonu, said the workshops will “build internal capacity, reduce reliance on external facilitators, and position the Model Skills Academy as a true centre of excellence in vocational and technical education.”

The Director-General of the ITF, Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, approved the training as part of his commitment to enhancing staff competence and ensuring sustainable manpower development across the country.

With this initiative, the Industrial Training Fund continues to demonstrate leadership in skills development and its resolve to empower Nigerians through world-class vocational and technical training, promoting job creation, workforce development, and industrial growth.
