Niger State, under the leadership of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, participated in the regional African business mission to the Russian Federation alongside Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso. The event, held in Moscow from October 8 to 12, 2025, gathered African entrepreneurs and government representatives to strengthen trade and economic ties with Russia.

During the mission, each participating country showcased product samples, investment materials, multimedia content, and sectoral opportunities aimed at boosting foreign partnerships and export potential.

As part of Governor Bago’s delegation, the Niger State Investment Promotion Agency (NSIPA) and other relevant state agencies engaged with Russian investors and business partners to attract sustainable investments and highlight Niger State’s growing economic prospects.

According to officials, “The participation opened doors for Niger State to establish stronger trade relations and explore advanced technologies that will benefit the agricultural sector.”

Key focus areas included agricultural products, showcasing Niger’s grain crop export potential; fertilisers and plant protection, leveraging Russia’s expertise; and seeds and breeding programs introducing climate-adapted varieties suitable for African environments.

Other areas of collaboration focused on agrotechnology, such as tractors, irrigation systems, and post-harvest solutions, as well as processing equipment including mills, oil presses, and animal feed production lines. Logistics and transport solutions were also discussed to improve maritime and rail transport, phytosanitary cooperation, and joint logistics operations aimed at boosting food security.

The mission allowed Niger State to explore direct B2B connections, promote trade in national currencies, and discuss improved logistics and product delivery processes with Russian counterparts.
