In a move to address economic challenges faced by residents, the Chairmen of Agege Local Government and Orile-Agege LCDA, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Vinod Obasa (AVO) and Hon. Akinola Idowu (Dodo), have partnered with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund to launch a Small and Medium Enterprise Training and Entrepreneurship Empowerment Programme. The event took place at the Agege LG Multipurpose Hall and focused on entrepreneurship training, business management, financial literacy, banking relationships, and access to funding for business growth.
Participants were trained on how to build bankable business profiles, manage cash flow, and access business loans to support growth. They also learned how to avoid common financial mistakes and were encouraged to view banks as partners in progress rather than obstacles. This approach aims to help local businesses navigate the financial sector with confidence and improve their chances of accessing credit for expansion.
The programme further provided detailed guidance on how to apply for the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, explaining the different categories of SME funding available to both new and existing entrepreneurs. Attendees received clear instructions on eligibility requirements, documentation, and application processes, enabling them to better position themselves for financial support and business development opportunities.
In his keynote address, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Vinod Obasa stated that “a true entrepreneur is one who identifies and solves people’s problems, even in the toughest economy.” He emphasized the need for innovation, discipline, savings culture, and business integrity. He highlighted that financial knowledge is essential for sustaining growth and attracting investors. The initiative aims to support youth and local businesses to grow stronger and remain financially stable.
