Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting and partnering with private sector to boost growth, expand employment opportunities, and promote overall development across the State.
The Governor made this known on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, while speaking at the official commissioning of a new branch of Zenith Bank in Uyo, describing the institution as one respected for integrity and excellence.
Governor Eno said he has enjoyed a long standing business relationship with Zenith Bank, explaining that the institution played a laudable role in the growth of Royalty Hotels, a hospitality brand he pioneered and led before joining the public service.
According to him, “Zenith Bank supported my business journey, and that support contributed greatly to the growth of Royalty Hotels before I came into public service.”
He expressed hope that the same gesture earlier extended to him would also be made available to other Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) operating within Akwa Ibom State to enable them thrive.
Governor Eno appreciated Zenith Bank for strategically opening another branch in Uyo and assured the bank of necessary support to make the new branch profitable.
He also used the occasion to commend the operations of Anchor Insurance located opposite the new bank branch and called on the management to give the structure some facelift.
Earlier, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank PLC, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, described the commissioning ceremony as “a significant milestone in the life of the bank.”
She appreciated the Akwa Ibom State Government and Governor Eno for their support, adding, “Your presence here today, despite your many competing engagements, speaks volume of your commitment to supporting the private sector and driving development of the State.”
She added, “We appreciate your commitment to creating conducive environments for businesses to thrive. Akwa Ibom State stands as one of the most business friendly States in Nigeria.”
Dame Umeoji said since the bank opened its first branch in the State 25 years ago, it has enjoyed a good relationship with the State Government and its people.
She assured of continuous partnership with the government and residents to create lasting impact and meaningful progress, adding that the bank’s presence would generate employment and business support opportunities.
She encouraged businesses, especially women owned businesses in the State, to leverage the bank’s initiatives.
Dignitaries at the event included the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr Aniefiok Johnson, former Petroleum Minister, Atuekong Don Etiebet, members of the State Executive Council, State House of Assembly, Local Government Chairmen, and officials.
