Subify has won the 2026 Proof Lab experiment at Tech Revolution Africa 2.0 in Lagos, securing a $2,000 angel investment from investor Ashley Barrett after a live presentation.

The announcement followed a presentation by the founding team during the Startup Fest segment of the event. Israel Oladipupo Ogunseye, Co-founder and CEO, had earlier pitched the platform and placed second in the pitch competition. The result earned the startup one of three places in the Proof Lab experiment, a one-week sprint focused on execution, delivery speed, and performance under pressure.

The team that represented Subify included Ogunseye, Elizabeth Anuoluwapo Ogunseye, Co-founder and CMO, and David Akinmoyede, Co-founder and CTO. They presented a product designed to address the cost of digital tools and the difficulty of coordinating group payments.

Subify began in late 2021 after friends in a WhatsApp group found it hard to split subscription bills for tools they used. Manual tracking took time, trust broke down, and payment reminders caused tension. The experience led to the creation of Subify, which launched on usesubify in October 2025.

“What surprised us early was how emotional subscription sharing can get; it’s not just money, it’s trust,” said Elizabeth Anuoluwapo Ogunseye. “People don’t like chasing friends, and they don’t like feeling embarrassed. We built Subify to remove that tension and make the experience feel simple again.”

The platform allows users to coordinate shared subscription costs and manage group payments for digital tools used for work, learning, productivity, and creativity. It promotes responsible sharing within plan terms and group agreements, with a focus on trust, transparency, and reliability.

“When you’re dealing with shared bills, reliability isn’t optional,” said Akinmoyede. “Our job is to build a system that removes confusion, no ‘who paid?’ drama, no missing steps; just clear coordination people can rely on.”

The angel award from Ashley Barrett provides early capital as the company prepares for its next phase. The team plans to enhance trust and verification features, expand the supported subscription categories, and establish partnerships to scale shared access.

Subify operates as an independent platform and states that it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any third-party subscription providers.
