The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy has launched the YOU-LEAD (Youth Leadership, Emergency Action and Development) Programme to help young people develop practical leadership abilities, civic responsibility, and workplace readiness.
The initiative is designed to provide hands-on training that prepares participants to respond to community needs, understand emergency situations, and build skills that improve their employability. According to the academy, the programme will combine leadership development with real-life learning experiences that encourage young people to actively contribute to their communities.
“This initiative is designed to equip young people with practical leadership skills, emergency response awareness, and employability readiness,” the academy stated while announcing the programme.
Participants will receive training in civic responsibility, community problem-solving, and workplace readiness. The programme will also feature CV and LinkedIn clinics aimed at helping young people strengthen their professional profiles and improve their chances in the job market.
Selected participants will also receive emergency response awareness training and CPR certification, giving them basic lifesaving knowledge and the confidence to respond during emergencies.
Other components of the programme include soft skills development, leadership orientation, and exposure to professional networks. “Through the programme, participants will gain hands-on learning in civic responsibility, community problem solving, workplace readiness, and leadership development,” the academy said.
The initiative will be implemented across several Local Government Areas in Lagos State to ensure wider access for young people.
