The National Automotive Design and Development Council has said increased investment in motorsport could unlock significant job opportunities and empower Nigerian youths.

Speaking at Turbo Fest 2026 held at Eagle Square, Abuja, the Director-General of NADDC, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, described motorsport as “a viable platform for job creation, skills development, and youth engagement in Nigeria’s growing automotive sector.”

He noted that beyond racing, the industry offers opportunities in engineering, mechanics, event management, media, and safety operations, adding that “with the right investment and regulatory framework, motorsport can evolve into a structured industry that absorbs thousands of young Nigerians.”

Osanipin stressed that the Council is committed to supporting initiatives that promote local talent and technical capacity. “We must begin to see motorsport as an economic tool, not just entertainment. It can stimulate innovation and create sustainable employment across multiple value chains,” he said.

Organised by Naija Autosports in collaboration with NADDC, the event drew stakeholders across the public and private sectors, reinforcing calls for stronger institutional backing.

Participants also highlighted the role of motorsport in youth empowerment, noting that “it provides a platform for creativity, discipline, and technical growth among young people.”
