The Katsina State Government is set to distribute starter packs to 1,169 graduating apprentices under the KASEDA/NATA Mechatronics Apprenticeship Support Programme (MASP), in what officials describe as a major step towards youth empowerment and economic inclusion in the state.

The initiative, driven by the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) in collaboration with the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), will culminate in a formal graduation ceremony scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2026, at the People’s Square, Government House, Modoji, Katsina, by 10:00am prompt.

According to a Sunday statement by the Director-General of KASEDA, Babangida Ruma, the programme is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical, industry-relevant mechatronics skills while also providing them with starter packs to transition into independent livelihoods. The 1,169 beneficiaries are drawn from across the state and have completed intensive technical training under the MASP framework.

“This special occasion marks the successful completion of training by 1,169 apprentices under the KASEDA/NATA Mechatronics Apprenticeship Support Programme (MASP) and the presentation of starter packs to support their transition into productive livelihoods,” the organisers said in an official notice.

The starter packs, which include professional tools and equipment aligned with their training, are expected to enable beneficiaries to immediately begin work, establish small-scale enterprises, or integrate into the automotive and technical services value chain.

Officials added that the initiative reinforces the state government’s broader strategy to tackle unemployment, promote entrepreneurship, and build a skilled workforce capable of contributing to local economic growth.

The event will also be attended by the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, who is listed as the Special Guest of Honour.

KASEDA noted that the programme aligns with its mandate of “building skills, empowering youth, and transforming lives,” while reaffirming its commitment to partnerships that drive sustainable development.

“We look forward to welcoming you as we celebrate this milestone and reaffirm our commitment to youth empowerment, skills development, and economic growth in Katsina State,” the statement added.

Nigeria Startup News reports that the MASP initiative is one of several interventions by the Katsina State Government aimed at strengthening technical capacity and supporting job creation through structured apprenticeship and enterprise support programmes.
