The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued a fresh update on the ongoing Nigeria Police Force (NPF) recruitment exercise, warning applicants against a fake shortlist currently circulating on social media.

In a statement released on June 1, 2026, the PSC said it had noticed a fraudulent list claiming to contain the names of candidates shortlisted for medical examination. The Commission clarified that no such shortlist has been released.

According to the PSC, the evaluation of the written examination is still at its concluding stage and the process of selecting successful candidates has not yet been completed.

“The Commission wishes to state categorically that no such shortlist has been released,” the statement said.

The PSC explained that invitations for medical examination will be sent directly to successful applicants in the coming days after the assessment process is concluded. Candidates will be notified through email, SMS, the official recruitment portal, and other verified communication channels of the Commission.

The Commission also reaffirmed its commitment to a merit-based recruitment process, stressing that transparency and fairness remain central to the exercise.

It noted that the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force depends largely on the quality of personnel recruited and assured applicants that due process is being followed at every stage.

The PSC advised applicants and members of the public to disregard unofficial information regarding the recruitment exercise and remain vigilant against fraudsters seeking to exploit job seekers.

“All official communications regarding the ongoing recruitment process will be disseminated solely through the Commission’s verified channels,” the statement added.

The Commission further reminded applicants that the recruitment exercise is completely free and that no payment is required at any stage of the process.
