The Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), on behalf of itself, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and its co-venture partners, has invited eligible Nigerian undergraduates to apply for the 2026 NNPC-SNEPCo National University Scholarship.

The merit-based programme is designed to promote academic excellence and strengthen the skills of Nigerians. Successful applicants will receive a yearly grant from their second year of study until they complete their undergraduate degree, subject to meeting the scholarship’s conditions.

Applications are open to Nigerian citizens who are full-time students in 200 level at public universities accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a five-point scale, or its equivalent under another grading system.

Students must not be beneficiaries of another scholarship provided by an oil and gas industry entity, whether national or international. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is November 30, 2026. Applications must be submitted online through the official Scholastica platform. Email applications will not be accepted, and SNEPCo says it has not appointed agents or representatives to assist applicants.

The scholarship application is free. Applicants are warned to avoid fraudulent websites or individuals demanding payment at any stage of the process.

Only candidates who meet the eligibility requirements will be invited to take a monitored computer-based test. The examination details will be communicated to shortlisted candidates. The top 10 candidates from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will be shortlisted for academic verification before scholarship offers are made.

Candidates found to have submitted false documents will be disqualified. Successful scholars must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 per session, or the equivalent, to retain the award. The scholarship cannot be transferred to another university or course.

The application requires candidates to provide personal and educational information and upload supporting documents. These include a recent passport photograph, university or Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) admission letter, Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, O’level results and any applicable A-level, Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) results.

Applicants must also provide a letter of identification from their state of origin showing their local government area, academic results after completing 100 level and a completed government official declaration form.

The award is renewable through graduation, provided recipients remain full-time students, make satisfactory academic progress and meet the conditions in their award letters. Scholars must also comply with their university’s conduct standards. The award may be withdrawn if its terms are breached.

The programme offers eligible students an opportunity to receive financial support throughout their undergraduate studies while focusing on academic performance. However, applicants should review the official requirements before submitting their documents.
