Applicants in the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) recruitment exercise are reportedly planning a peaceful protest over the “Check Back Later” message on the recruitment portal.

The action is expected before November 14, which the CDCFIB announced as the portal’s closing deadline. They want the Board and the Federal Ministry of Interior to explain their status and clarify whether they have progressed or been disqualified.

The protest threat reportedly involves candidates who believe they performed successfully in earlier stages but have received no shortlisting notification or clear dashboard update. They say the recurring message leaves them uncertain after participating in the exercise.

Some candidates have reportedly received updates, while others, including Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) holders, say their dashboards remain inconclusive. They want individual status information instead of an unexplained portal message.

The recruitment covers four paramilitary agencies: the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Correctional Service and Federal Fire Service.

The Board announced that the portal would reopen from October 28 to November 14, 2026, for successful candidates to confirm their status and obtain codes for mandatory National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) screening. The Board says screening is free and warns against paying intermediaries.

What happens next

Applicants are expected to decide on their protest plans before the reported deadline. They want the Board and Interior Ministry to address their complaints, clarify outstanding statuses and communicate the next steps. Until an official response is issued, the protest remains a reported plan, not an event that has taken place. Candidates should rely on CDCFIB announcements for confirmed updates published on its verified platforms.
