June 14, 2025 – The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially extended the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement until August 12, 2025. This decision was approved by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, following public concerns about the reactivation of the digital permit application system.
In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police assured Nigerians that their feedback was not ignored. “These voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all,” the statement noted.
The extension is aimed at making room for improvements in the digital and physical application processes. These updates include more effective verification methods and simpler steps to reduce waiting time and avoid stress for applicants.
The police stressed that only the official platform, https://possap.gov.ng, should be used to apply or renew the Tinted Glass Permit. The public is also urged to report any hidden charges or extortion during the application or biometric capturing stages by contacting the NPF through the hotline: 09169967000.
The statement added, “The NPF is actively working to simplify and improve both the physical and contactless application options including enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures.”
IGP Egbetokun emphasised the importance of maintaining transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing. The Nigeria Police Force has also reaffirmed its dedication to public safety, digital innovation, and improved service delivery.
