The Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), in partnership with the MTN Foundation (MTNF), has announced the official opening of admissions into the Twentieth (20th) Cohort of the MUSON/MTNF Diploma School of Music for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This is a fully sponsored music training programme designed to support talented individuals who wish to build a professional career in music.
The entrance examination process will begin with a Written Examination on Music Theory and General Knowledge, scheduled for Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
This will be followed by the On-site Practical Audition and Aural Interview, which will take place from Wednesday, 3rd to Friday, 5th September 2025, between 10:00am and 4:00pm daily.
Admission requirements:
Interested candidates must meet the following minimum academic qualifications:
i. The General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level with credits in at least five (5) subjects including English Language, OR
ii. The Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with credits in at least 5 subjects including English Language. The five (5) credits must have been obtained at not more than two (2) sittings before applying for the Diploma course.
For MUSIC THEORY, applicants must possess a Grade five (5) or higher certificate from the MUSON School of Music or a recognized graded music certificate approved by MUSON, such as ABRSM or Trinity College, London.
Similarly, for MUSIC PRACTICAL, a Grade five (5) or higher certificate is required from MUSON or equivalent bodies like ABRSM or Trinity.
The deadline for application submissions is Monday, 25th August 2025.

“Applicants who meet the necessary criteria will be invited to participate in the entrance examinations and interviews scheduled from Saturday, 27th August to Thursday, 1st September 2025,” according to the official statement.
Candidates must come along with their instruments, except for pianists. They should be prepared to take the following:
a. Written Examination
b. Aural Interview
c. Practical Audition

As of the current admission cycle, possession of a valid JAMB result is now a requirement for admission into the MUSON Diploma School of Music.
The Diploma in Music is a full-time, two (2) year programme offering advanced training in music, with majors available in the following areas: Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Classical Guitar, and Voice.
