The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has officially dissolved the appointments of all Area Education Officers and School Support Officers across the 20 local government areas of the state.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, during a meeting with Education Secretaries from the affected local governments.

According to him, “Others affected by the dissolution are Arabic and Christian visiting teachers, Early Child Care Development and Education (ECCDE) supervisors, and library supervisors under the twenty local education authorities.”

Alhaji Adamu explained that the decision is part of an ongoing reform aimed at overhauling the existing monitoring and supervision structures within the basic education sector. “This dissolution is part of the ongoing developmental strategy of a comprehensive overhaul of monitoring and supervision structures across the twenty local Education Authorities in the state,” he said.

He further directed the relevant departments within SUBEB and LEAs to ensure that the transition process is smooth and does not disrupt ongoing educational activities. “Henceforth, only school support officers by UBEC/SUBEB and LEAs will be recognized for the job,” he added.

The Chairman also stated that new appointments will be made soon, and that “new guidelines for the selection of school support officers have been developed to ensure a standardized and effective process.”

He said the new guidelines will be distributed to all LEAs to promote improved quality and consistency in the support provided to schools, with a strong focus on boosting educational outcomes and service delivery across Bauchi State.

Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri instructed all affected personnel to report to their respective Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) headquarters for assessment and proper documentation.

Isah Mohammed Jungudo, Public Relations Officer, SUBEB Bauchi, confirmed the directive.
