Lafia – August 7, 2025 – The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s food security through closer collaboration with Nasarawa State. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, met with Governor Abdullahi Sule in Lafia as part of efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda to build sustainable food systems, bridge the national demand gap, and boost agricultural productivity.
“States like Nasarawa are critical to Nigeria’s agricultural transformation,” Senator Kyari said. “By investing in production and working together, we can build a food-secure nation.”
Governor Sule highlighted Nasarawa’s strong production of rice and sesame, identifying sugarcane as a key growth frontier. Both leaders agreed to prioritise increased investment in mechanisation, value chain development, and agro-processing.
The partnership aims to create jobs, improve rural development, and ensure long-term food self-sufficiency through coordinated state-level, federal, and private sector actions, positioning Nasarawa as a vital hub in Nigeria’s drive for agricultural transformation and economic growth.
