The National Programme Manager of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), Mr. Hamza Baba, has engaged market women in Kano ahead of the GEEP 3.0 relaunch under the Renewed Hope agenda. He visited Rimi and Dawanau Market to interact with beneficiaries of the TraderMonie and MarketMonie loan schemes.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Baba said the initiative remains vital for economic empowerment. “Programmes like MarketMonie, FarmersMonie, and TraderMonie are designed to support Nigerian farmers, market women, and traders,” he stated.

Some beneficiaries of GEEP 1.0 and GEEP 2.0 shared their experiences, highlighting success stories and challenges.

They explained how access to loan facilities had boosted their businesses, improved sales, and created financial stability. At the same time, they noted difficulties that should be addressed to make the intervention more effective.

Potential beneficiaries of GEEP 3.0 expressed their expectations from the programme. Many market women said they looked forward to the intervention as a way to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods, especially in a challenging economic environment.

Mr. Baba stressed that the relaunch of GEEP 3.0 would bring renewed opportunities for small businesses across Nigeria.
